The Public Speaking Fear

Public speaking can be extremely stressful for some people and it is often a huge fear that people never overcome. This does not have to be the case, here are a few tips to help you overcome your fear and become a great public or even motivational speaker. Doing these techniques will change your view on public speaking after trying them at least once.

  • Know what you are talking about. If you are confident on the subject then words will come naturally to you, especially if you had to get stuck during the talk.
  •  Be prepared. Know how long you must talk for, how many people you will be talking to, if there is computer equipment for a slideshow, know what the point of the talk is all about etc. These are key questions to ask that will prevent stress on the day of the talk.
  •  Structure your speech well. Make sure you have an opening  speech to get everybody interested and get to know you, then move on to the middle and lastly drive home your point with a call to action. Make sure you only talk about relevant things and not wonder off from your speech. You might get lost if you do this.
  • Practice make perfect! Go over your speech a few times, until you feel confident. Make use of cue cards so you do not have to worry about getting stuck.
